Virtual Reality (VR) has become a ubiquitous topic, which has received great success across industries and promises nothing less than a revolution in the consumption of digital content. The technology is not only celebrated by early adopters and technology enthusiasts, more and more large companies are making their products available to potential customers using VR. And beyond the areas of communication and entertainment, there is also great potential in architecture, design, education, research, medicine, and therapy.
Since 2019 IADC is integrating VR into their projects and constantly reviewing more opportunities to incorporate it even more in future infrastructure projects.
These projects are focused on the functional aspects of airports. With the introduction of VR more clients have been asking for more realistic 3D visualizations instead of generic 2D floor plans. VR helps to understand the proposed concept design and identify possibilities for further improvement of the project.
Besides the fact that a VR experience is a great gimmick, which is fun to use, it also adds further benefits like:
- Immersive experience
- Transparency to all details of the space
- Better understanding of the project scale
- More interaction
- Real sense of space
VR solutions, i.e. 360° renderings have been used in our recent projects like:
- Feasibility study of Terminal 1, Concourse B at Frankfurt Airport
- Feasibility study of Terminal 2 at Frankfurt Airport
Soon we will be introducing you to realtime VR adding more value and creating an even more dynamic understanding of development options for future projects.
